Need your space cleaned too? Visit SturdyBee Cleaning

Hoarding Cleanup Service in Metro Vancouver

Respectful, discreet hoarding cleanup for Metro Vancouver residents and families. We work without judgment and focus on getting the space cleared safely and efficiently.

Hoarding situations require a different kind of junk removal. The volume is larger, the sorting process is more nuanced, and the emotional weight — for the person living there and for family members helping — is real. SturdyBee approaches hoarding cleanups with professionalism and genuine discretion. We don't comment on what we see, we work efficiently, and we focus on clearing the space rather than adding to the stress of the situation.

What a Hoarding Cleanup Involves

Hoarding cleanup differs from a standard cleanout in a few important ways:

  • Volume is typically much larger — often multiple full loads
  • Sorting is more complex — items of value or personal significance may be mixed with general junk
  • Navigation through the property requires patience and care
  • Multiple visits are sometimes needed for very severe situations
  • Family coordination — sometimes multiple family members are involved, with different views on what should be saved

Our Approach

We work at a pace that fits the situation. For some hoarding cleanups, the occupant or family members want to go through items before removal — we work around that process. For situations where the property needs to be fully cleared as quickly as possible (e.g., landlord situation, health and safety concern), we work systematically and efficiently.

Our crew does not comment, judge, or discuss the contents of the property with neighbors or bystanders. What happens inside the property stays inside the property.

Working with Family Members and Caregivers

Hoarding cleanup is often initiated by a family member, social worker, or caregiver rather than the occupant directly. We're comfortable working with a family-appointed point of contact and can coordinate access, timing, and scope with whoever is managing the situation on the occupant's behalf.

If a professional organizer or social worker is also involved, we can coordinate our role with theirs — we do the physical hauling while they manage the sorting process.

What We Take in a Hoarding Cleanup

We take all non-hazardous contents: furniture, clothing, boxes, newspapers and magazines, kitchen items, electronics, appliances, food containers (empty), and general household accumulation. Items in reasonable condition are sorted for donation. As always, we cannot take hazardous materials — chemicals, wet paint, medications, biological waste.

Hoarding Cleanup Pricing

Hoarding cleanups are typically multi-load jobs. We quote after a walk-through of the property or on the basis of photos/description if an advance estimate is helpful. Full-truck loads ($719) are common, and multiple loads are often needed for severe situations. We quote the full scope before starting so there are no surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the crew be discreet? I don't want neighbors to know.
Yes. Our crew is professional and does not discuss job contents or client situations with anyone. We work as efficiently and quietly as the job allows.
Can you work around the occupant who is reluctant to let items go?
To some extent, yes. We take direction from whoever is managing the job. If the occupant needs extra time to decide on specific items, we work around that. But we can't override the occupant's decisions about their belongings — that's a matter for the family and, where appropriate, their support professionals.
Do you do biohazard cleanup?
No. We remove junk and household items, not biohazardous waste. If the property has biohazardous material (animal waste, blood, sewage, etc.), a licensed biohazard remediation company must handle that first.
