Moving, downsizing, redecorating, or clearing an estate — whatever the reason, getting rid of old furniture is one of the most physically demanding parts of any cleanout. Sofas are awkward, bed frames are unwieldy, and dressers get heavier the moment you need to move them down a flight of stairs. SturdyBee Junk Removal takes care of the whole job: lifting, carrying, loading, and responsible disposal. You don't move a thing.
What Furniture We Remove
We remove virtually all residential and commercial furniture. Common items include:
- Sofas and sectionals (standard and oversized)
- Loveseats, armchairs, and recliners
- Bed frames (single, double, queen, king)
- Mattresses and box springs (specialty surcharge applies — see below)
- Dressers, wardrobes, and chests of drawers
- Dining tables and chairs
- Coffee tables, side tables, and end tables
- Entertainment units and TV stands
- Bookshelves and display shelving
- Desks and office chairs
- Filing cabinets and storage units
- Baby furniture: cribs, change tables, high chairs
Furniture We Cannot Remove
We cannot remove pianos, safes, or items containing hazardous materials (e.g., older furniture with asbestos-containing components). Pianos and safes require specialist movers due to their weight and structural risk — we can suggest alternatives if needed.
How Furniture Pickup Works
Call (236) 308-8156 or submit our booking form. We confirm a 2-hour arrival window and call you 15–30 minutes before the crew shows up. On arrival, we walk through the items, give you a firm price based on our load tiers, and if you agree, we carry everything out — from wherever it sits in your home. Stairs, narrow hallways, and upper floors are all part of a normal day's work.
All furniture removal is included in the load price. You don't pay extra per item or per flight of stairs for standard pickups.
Pricing for Furniture Removal
Furniture removal is priced by load size — how much space your items take up in the truck. A single piece (one sofa, one armchair) typically lands in the minimum or 1/6 load tier. A full room set or multiple pieces from different rooms is usually a 1/4 to 1/2 load.
Our load tiers are: Minimum load (under 1 cubic yard) — from $119 | 1/6 load (~3 cy) — $209 | 1/4 load (~4 cy) — $289 | 1/2 load (~8 cy) — $478 | 3/4 load (~12 cy) — $629 | Full load (~16 cy) — $719.
Mattresses and box springs carry an additional specialty surcharge per unit on top of the load price. This covers the recycling fees charged by mattress stewardship programs. We always disclose surcharges before we start.
Metro Vancouver Considerations: Condos, Elevator Bookings & Loading Docks
Much of Metro Vancouver's housing stock is multi-storey condo buildings where moving furniture out requires elevator booking, loading dock access, and sometimes parking permits for our truck. If you're in a condo or apartment, let us know when you book so we can plan accordingly.
We work with building management on elevator reservations when needed. Our crews are experienced with the tight hallways, low-clearance parkades, and restricted loading zones common in Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster buildings.
What Happens to Your Old Furniture
We sort the load at the end of each job. Furniture in reasonable condition is diverted to local donation organizations where possible. Items that can't be donated go to the appropriate disposal facility. Metal components from furniture are separated for recycling. We make a genuine effort to keep usable pieces out of the landfill, though we can't guarantee every item is rescued — some furniture is simply too worn.
