Appliance Removal in Metro Vancouver

Old fridge not going with you? Washer finally gave up? We pick up appliances throughout Metro Vancouver and route them to proper recycling.

Appliances are some of the most inconvenient items to get rid of on your own — they're heavy, often on upper floors, and can't simply go in the recycling bin. SturdyBee Junk Removal handles appliance removal throughout Metro Vancouver, from single-item pickups to full kitchen or laundry room clearouts. We do the heavy lifting, and appliances are routed to certified recycling facilities that handle refrigerants and metals appropriately.

Gas Appliance Disconnection: What You Need to Know

If you have a gas stove, dryer, or other gas-connected appliance, the gas line must be properly disconnected before our crew arrives. Gas disconnection must be performed by a licensed gas fitter — we do not provide gas disconnection services.

We can haul the appliance once it's safely disconnected. If you need a recommendation for a licensed gas fitter in Metro Vancouver, your local utility (FortisBC) can help you find a licensed contractor.

How Appliance Pickup Works

Call or book online. We confirm a 2-hour arrival window and call ahead when the crew is on the way. On arrival, we quote based on volume, and if you agree, we disconnect (for electric appliances) where reasonable, carry the appliance out, and load it into the truck. Payment is on completion.

For large appliances on upper floors or in tight spaces, our crew assesses the access situation on arrival. In some cases, appliances need to be partially disassembled (fridge shelves removed, doors taken off) to navigate staircases — this is included in the service.

Appliance Removal Pricing

Appliances are priced by load tier like everything else. A single fridge or stove is usually a minimum to 1/6 load ($119–$209). A full laundry room (washer + dryer) or multiple kitchen appliances typically lands in the 1/4 load range ($289). Multiple appliances from different rooms will be quoted based on actual volume.

There is no separate per-item surcharge for most standard appliances. Appliances containing refrigerants (fridges, freezers, air conditioners) are sent to certified facilities that recover those refrigerants properly — this is included in our standard pricing.

What Happens to Removed Appliances

Appliances that are in working condition may be routed to donation organizations — some social enterprises and charity programs accept working appliances. Non-functional appliances go to certified recycling facilities where metals are recovered and refrigerants are handled according to environmental regulations.

We do not dump appliances illegally. Proper disposal is the baseline, not the exception.

Appliance Removal for Property Managers and Landlords

Tenant move-outs often leave behind old appliances that weren't part of the suite or have been damaged. We regularly work with property managers and landlords to clear vacated suites quickly, including appliance removal. Invoice provided for records. See our commercial services page for more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to defrost the fridge before you pick it up?
It's helpful if you can defrost and empty the fridge before pickup, but we can collect a frosted fridge if needed. Just be aware it'll be heavier and potentially messier to load.
Can you take a working appliance, or only broken ones?
We take both working and broken appliances. Working appliances in good condition are often diverted to donation where possible.
My stove is gas — can you take it?
Yes, once the gas line has been properly disconnected by a licensed gas fitter. We do not provide gas disconnection. Once it's safely capped, we'll haul the stove away.
Do you take commercial appliances from restaurants or hospitality?
Yes. We handle commercial appliances including commercial fridges, dishwashers, and cooking equipment. Contact us with specifics and we'll confirm based on size and access.
